9 Days Amboseli/Samburu/Nakuru/Maasai Mara

Day 1

Picked up from residence/hotel at about 0700 hrs and depart for Amboseli National Park. You will be arriving in time for lunch at the Kibo Safari Camp and weather permitting – you shall get a view of the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro with its snow capped peaks. This is the also the home the re-known Masai community and here you will have an opportunity to learn more on the Masai culture and indigenous lifestyle.  This park lies in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro, which is the highest peak in Africa. Although not as large as others in the southern region, Amboseli features a unique ecosystem and a variety of game that is easy to spot. The park also features five different wildlife habitats: the seasonal lake bed of Lake Amboseli, sulfur springs surrounded by swamps and marshes, open plains, woodlands, and lava rock thorn bush country. Amboseli is best known for its great elephant herds. The park also provides the best chance of spotting the elusive black rhino. Lion and cheetah are common as well as Maasai giraffe, eland, Coke’s hartebeest, waterbuck, impala and gazelle.

Day 2

Today you have two game drives an early morning game drive before breakfast and an afternoon game drive. The rest of your day is at leisure at the Camp to enjoy the amenities at your disposal. Overnight will be spent at the Kibo Safari Camp Amboseli.

Day 3

Depart Amboseli to drive to Nairobi with lunch at the Carnivore Restaurant then proceed for overnight at the Mvuli house on BB Basis.

Day 4

Picked up from Mvuli after breakfast 0700 hrs and depart for Samburu National Park  driving North to the equator then proceeding on to arrive in time for lunch at the Samburu Sopa Lodge.  A short rest then followed by an afternoon game drive. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5

Today you have two game drives an early morning game drive before breakfast and an afternoon game drive. The rest of your day is at leisure at the Lodge to enjoy the amenities at your disposal. Overnight will be spent at the Samburu Sopa lodge.

Day 6

Depart after breakfast and drive to with picnic lunch boxes for Lake Nakuru National Park enjoy and en-route game drive to the Flamingo Hill Tented Camp for dinner and overnight stay. Lake Nakuru National Park is also one of the world’s greatest ornithological spectacles.

Major geological upheavals caused a series of lakes in Kenya’s Rift Valley and Lake Nakuru is of the soda variety and when conditions are right up to two million lesser and greater flamingos feed around its shores. Baboon Cliff is a well-known spot from which to view the dazzling fringe of pink around the lake’s shores. Lake Nakuru was declared a national park in 1961 and it now covers an area of some 200 km² and is a Black & White rhino sanctuary. You have an excellent chance of seeing buffalo, Rothschild giraffe, White Rhino and plenty of baboon and warthog, waterbuck and impala. Lion, leopard and black rhino are frequently seen.

Day 7

Depart the Nakuru and drive to the Masai Mara reserve where you be arriving in time for lunch at the Mara Sopa Lodge. Although not Kenya’s largest park, Masai Mara Game Reserve offers undoubtedly the best concentrations of wildlife in an area just above 1,800 sq km (almost 700 sq miles) it was established in 1961 and adjoins the Serengeti in Tanzania forming the northern end of the great migration eco-system. This is the traditional land of the Masai people, who are nomadic herders and opt for the traditional lifestyle. Habitats within this park include the forests along the banks of the Mara and Talek Rivers, savannah and acacia forests. These habitats are home to a great variety of game including lion, leopard, cheetah, zebra, wildebeest (gnu), giraffe, buffalo, jackal, eland, gazelles, impala and elephant. This is the only place in Kenya where topi are common and you will see them standing sentinel on old termite mounds. Hippopotamuses and crocodiles are plentiful in the rivers and the bird life is also abundant (about 53 species of birds of prey alone have been recorded). Overnight will be spent at the Mara Sopa Lodge.

Day 8

Today you have two game drives an early morning game drive before breakfast and an afternoon game drive. The rest of your day is at leisure at the Lodge to enjoy the amenities at your disposal. Overnight will be spent at the Mara Sopa lodge.

Day 9

After breakfast an early morning breakfast you shall depart for Nairobi then transferred to the airport for your homebound flight.
